Indianapolis Realtor, Cindy Marchant, Highlights area running events to Get Fit This Year
Recently, the IndyStar had an article entitled, Number of Lists are Singing Indy’s Praises. Indianapolis is a wonderful city (one of the many reasons I love to sell homes in Indianapolis), and I love to see our great city gain recognition! But, like all things, with the good comes the not so good. I prefer to start with the bad and end on a good note!
Despite having a award-winning cultural trail downtown, The Monon, and wonderful places to hike like Brown County and Ft. Harrison, Indianapolis is just not a fit city. According to the article, Indianapolis finished 47 out of 50 according to the American College of Sports Medicine. We finished 41st in overall health according to the United Health Foundation, 46th according to Men’s Fitness and 41st according to Glamour magazine. Whew! That is not good! But, this year we can fix that (and cross off that ever constant ‘get healthy’ New Year’s Resolution)! Here’s a list of running events in the first quarter to help us get fit this new year!
January 17th features the 17th Annual Bop to the Top! This challenging event has runners climbing the 36 flights of stairs at the One America Tower! Bop to the Top and benefit Riley Hospital at the same time!
If you would like to spend a Sunday running with your love, February 14th has lots of options! There is the Sweetheart Scoot, Run 4 Love, and Be My Valentine 5k are great options! Single? Try the Singles Dash!
Later, on February 21st, there is the classic Indy Polar Bear run! This fun race offers a 5k, 5 miles or the double (8 miles)!
